Here’s a game clip of Nets-Blazers from NBA.com:
The Nets defeated the Portland Trailblazers, 98-85, at the Barclays center Sunday. Deron Williams got the best of Portland’s star rookie guard Damian Lillard, with 15 points, 12 assists, four blocks to go along with his three steals. Lillard, an early favorite for rookie of the year honors, finished with 13 points and seven assists.
Williams has a precedent for stepping up his game against younger guards. Last season, Williams dropped 50+ points twice against the Knicks when he was matched up against Jeremy Lin, who was at that time NYC’s latest flavor of the month. Williams is undeniably one of the NBA’s best guards and perhaps the most underrated since he doesn’t get the recognition as his counterparts in Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo and Russell Westbrook. Williams was instrumental in Brooklyn’s win to cap a string of five games versus West coast opponents. The Nets went 3-2 during that stretch. Now they will take on the crosstown rival Knicks in what looks like an entertaining showdown between two teams that are vying for the top seeds in the Eastern Conference.
